Wedding Rehearsal Dinner Etiquette

Conducting a wedding rehearsal dinner is very important. For one, it is the last time that the family members of both parties are going to gather together before the actual weeding day. To ensure that the little party would be successful in preparation for the big event the following day, observe some wedding rehearsal dinner etiquette. This would not only ensure that your wedding rehearsal dinner would turn out perfect but this is one of the few occasions where the families of both parties would be given the chance to know more of each other which could contribute to an easy and more enjoyable wedding event the next day.

Wedding Rehearsal Dinner Etiquette
  • One of the things that you should remember is to thank everyone in the wedding rehearsal dinner. Obviously, the people who are at the rehearsal are some of your invited guests, the wedding entourage and the people who have helped in preparing your big event. As part of the wedding rehearsal dinner etiquette, express your gratitude for all their support since you probably have little or no time at all to convey how much you appreciate their effort if you would wait to say it the next day.
  • The wedding rehearsal dinner should be hosted by one of the parents of either the bride or the groom. If both parents of the couple are not available, it is acceptable for the bride or the groom to do the hosting or any of their relatives.
  • Compared to the formal invitations given for the wedding, the invitation for the rehearsals can be done in a less formal manner such as thru email, telephone call, text messages or even verbally. All such forms of invitation are acceptable and can be considered as wedding rehearsal dinner etiquette.
  • Another wedding rehearsal dinner etiquette that you should consider is where you are going to conduct the dinner party. You can book your dinner in a classy restaurant or have it in your backyard or in your home for a more relaxed atmosphere. The outfit of your guests will depend on the kind of venue where you will have the dinner. Your guests can wear something casual if you will have it in your home while semi-formal attire is more appropriate if you will have it in an elegant restaurant.
  • A toast is also part of the wedding rehearsal dinner etiquette. The host can propose a toast before the food is served or it can be done after drinks are served.
